Flower season in the Seattle area begins with cherry blossoms—soft, delicate blooms that mark the start of something truly special. From early spring through late summer, everything feels lighter, calmer, and full of quiet beauty. From Seattle to Everett and nearby communities like Bothell and Mill Creek, this is one of the most magical times to plan your maternity photos.
As a maternity photographer based in Everett near Silver Lake, I work with families across Seattle and surrounding areas to choose locations that feel natural, peaceful, and full of life. Flower-filled settings add a gentle, organic touch to your session—something that complements the beauty of motherhood in the most effortless way.
If you’re planning a maternity session during flower season, here are some of the most beautiful locations in and around Seattle that I absolutely love.
Cherry Blossoms in Seattle & Nearby Areas
Cherry blossom season in the Seattle and Everett area is short—but incredibly magical. When those soft pink blooms are at their peak, they create a dreamy backdrop that feels almost unreal.
Some of my favorite spots include:
Washington Park Arboretum — beautiful variety of blooms with more space and a peaceful feel
Seward Park — a calm setting with a mix of greenery and seasonal blossoms
Quiet neighborhood streets across Seattle and even parts of Everett — often the most underrated and intimate locations
You might have heard of the University of Washington Quad—while it’s stunning, it can get very crowded during peak bloom. I usually recommend it only for early mornings on weekdays if you’re looking for a quieter experience.
The key here is timing. Bloom season typically lasts just a couple of weeks, and choosing the right day makes all the difference. This is one of the most popular choices for maternity photos in Seattle during early spring.
Tulip Fields – Skagit Valley (Near Seattle & Everett)
If you’re open to a short drive from Seattle or Everett, the tulip fields in Skagit Valley are truly worth it. Rows of vibrant flowers stretching endlessly create a bold and colorful setting that feels straight out of a painting.
Best time: Late March to April
What I love about this location is the variety—soft pastels, bold colors, and wide open space that gives your images a more editorial and artistic look.
Because this is a popular destination for families from Seattle, Everett, and surrounding areas, I always plan sessions carefully to make sure we get the best light and avoid peak crowds.
Lupine Fields Near Seattle & Washington
Lupine fields are one of the most beautiful and unique settings for maternity photos, especially as the season moves into late spring and early summer. The soft purple tones and open landscapes create a look that feels both elevated and deeply connected to nature.
This is one of my favorite types of sessions to photograph—the way lupine fields move with the wind, the softness of the colors, and the openness of the space all come together to create something truly special.
These sessions are perfect for:
A more editorial and artistic feel
Natural movement and flow
A calm, peaceful outdoor experience
If you’re open to traveling a bit further from Seattle or Everett, lupine fields in Washington offer an incredible backdrop that feels both intimate and breathtaking at the same time.
Sunflower Fields Near Seattle & Everett
As summer reaches its peak, sunflower fields begin to bloom—bringing warm golden tones and a completely different feel compared to earlier flower seasons. Sunflower fields are typically at their best: Late July through August
These locations are perfect for:
Golden hour sessions with warm, glowing light
A more vibrant and joyful feel
Bold, editorial-style maternity portraits
Many sunflower farms across Washington are within a comfortable drive from Seattle and Everett, making them a beautiful late-summer option for expecting moms.
Sweet Peas & Wildflowers Around Seattle & Washington
As the season moves from late spring into summer, you’ll start to see more textured blooms like lupine and sweet peas appearing in open fields and natural spaces around Seattle and Everett.
One of my favorite spots for this type of session is:
Discovery Park — during late spring and early summer, you can find beautiful sweet pea blooms along with open fields and coastal textures that create a soft, natural feel
If you’re open to traveling a bit further, Washington also offers some incredible wildflower locations:
Snoqualmie Pass — feel so peaceful and naturally beautiful… perfect for maternity sessions
Mount Rainier National Park — known for its stunning wildflower meadows, especially lupine, with breathtaking mountain views
Picture Lake- Mount Baker — offers a scenic mountain backdrop with reflective water and seasonal wildflowers
These locations feel: More organic, Less posed, Deeply connected to nature
They’re perfect for moms who want something simple, earthy, and elevated.
Studio vs Outdoor – What to Choose?
While flower locations are absolutely beautiful, outdoor sessions do depend on weather, bloom timing, and availability—especially in the Seattle and Everett area.
If you’re looking for:
- More control
- Consistent lighting
- A cozy, relaxed environment
My studio in Silver Lake, Everett is always a great option for families across Seattle and nearby cities.
